2020 Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission Wage Increase

Friday’s decision of the Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission ( WAIRC) has increased the State Minimum Wage and Award wages by 1.75%.

The WAIRC has decided to delay the increases until the first pay period after 1 January 2021, given there is such a high level of economic uncertainty as a result of COVID-19.

This increase will need to be passed on by the Local Governments that apply the minimum rates of pay set out in the Local Government Officers’ (Western Australia) Interim Award 2011 and Municipal Employees (Western Australia) Interim Award 2011.
 
If you apply the Awards but provide pay rates higher than the minimum Award rates, you will need to review your internal policies and procedures, and contracts of employment to determine when and how your Local Government usually provides pay increases.

Wage Schedules

The WALGA ER team will update the State Award wage schedules to reflect the 1.75% increase and notify our subscribers when they are available.
