2019 Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission Wage Increase

This update is for the attention of Local Government members who operate under the Western Australian Industrial Relations jurisdiction.

On 14 June 2019 the Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission (WAIRC) issued a decision increasing the WA Minimum Wage by 2.75% per week.

This means that the WA Minimum Wage will increase from $726.90 per week to $746.90 per week from the pay period on or after 1 July 2019.

The WAIRC wage decision will apply to the Local Government Officers (Western Australia) Interim Award 2011 and the Municipal Employees (Western Australia) Interim Award 2011.

The increase will apply only to employees who are paid the minimum award wage, as any wage paid above the award wage can absorb the increase.

WALGA Employee Relations will release revised wage schedules to subscribers in the near future.
