Purearth is a WA family owned business, with standing in the commercial business sector, stretching back over 40 years.  The Curtis family has owned and operated transport and distribution businesses in the landscaping & nursery sectors since the 1980’s and continues to operate the Little Loads sales and distribution business, providing an outlet for products manufactured by Purearth.  Additionally, the family operate a broadacre farming enterprise south of Perth, where much of the product testing and development has occurred over recent decades.  Given the length of time that they have been operating in these sectors, along with the reputation and relationships that have developed over time, there is an increasing awareness and demand for the range of organic products that Purearth can supply within these markets.  The anticipated increase in the volume of certified organic product that can be produced will feed the growing demand for suitable soil treatment products that the organic and sustainable farming sector are seeking to procure.

Purearth’s core business is centred around the receival and processing or organic waste materials, for the manufacture of certified organic soil treatment products, such as mulches; composts; potting mixes; and manufactured soils.  One of the increasingly important services provided by Purearth is the receival and processing of food organic and garden organic (FOGO) waste materials, arising from the domestic and industrial sectors across the Perth metropolitan area.  Historically, these materials have been captured in the Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) system, or the Commercial & Industrial (C&I) waste system and consigned to landfill.  Progressively, local, state and federal governments are encouraging/supporting the deployment of infrastructure and systems for the segregation, capture and processing of these materials into sustainable products that benefit our soils, in the domestic and commercial sectors.  The FOGO market is currently in the early stages of development, here in WA, with Purearth being the sole operator in this sector, as of 2021, serving the Perth metropolitan area, holding a contract for the receival and processing of FOGO material, for conversion into compost products, along with the consignment of the finished products to local and regional markets.  Ideally and in the longer term, the service provided by Purearth will accept increasing volumes of FOGO for processing into products, such as organic composts and mulches, for application in the domestic and agricultural sectors, thereby diverting significant volumes of material from landfill.
