WALGA has established a Preferred Supplier Panel for the provision of Hazardous & Emergency Event Clean-Up Services.
This arrangement will provide services to assist Members in the assessment, management and clean-up of both small scale hazards and larger scale emergency events.
Category 1 - Hazardous Material Clean-Up Services – Eg. clean-up of hazardous material that has been dumped illegally.
Category 2 - Emergency Event Clean-Up Services – Eg. clean-up after a bush fire or major flood damage.

Identification of hazardous waste;

Emergency containment/confinement of waste;

Removal of material;
-
Transportation of hazardous waste;
-
Transport of non-hazardous waste in emergency circumstances;

Monitoring, treatment and recovery of recyclable materials;

Monitoring, treatment and disposal of non-recyclable material;
-
Emergency collection, storage and disposal of waste;
-
Collection, storage and disposal of hazardous wastes, such as asbestos, contaminated sites (including contaminated soils) etc.;

Stabilisation of contaminated sites or areas; and
-
Resource recovery in emergency situations or hazardous environments.
Hazardous Waste Management:

Squalor and hoarding;

Remediation of clandestine laboratories (after they are made safe by relevant authorities);

Illegally dumped hazardous waste;

Hazardous wastes during emergencies;

Chemical spills; and
-
Hazardous material received at transfer stations.
General:
-
Identification of hazardous materials;
-
Emergency and/or routine response to incidents and emergencies in Western Australia where hazardous and non-hazardous wastes are involved;

Confinement and containment of hazardous wastes to prevent the spread of the waste;

Clean up of hazardous wastes, including impacted soils, water, buildings and equipment;

Temporary storage of hazardous wastes, including the construction of temporary storage facilities if required;

Removal of hazardous waste from the incident site;
-
Transport of the waste to a storage, treatment, recycling or disposal facility in accordance with regulatory requirements;

Analysis of materials to identify chemicals present, and their concentrations;

Treatment, recycling or disposal of removed materials;
-
Decontamination of site, buildings, infrastructure and equipment;
-
Sampling and testing, using competent personnel of soil, water and surfaces to determine the levels of residual contamination after clean up and decontamination; and
-
Traffic control and security personnel and equipment to prevent vehicles and members of the public accessing contaminated areas.
