The LGmap tool is a sector specific portal, with applications to a broad range of Local Government activities such as the assessment of development applications, preparing documentation to support regulatory requirements for infrastructure projects or asset management.

LGmap replaces WALGA's Environmental Planning Tool with new improved design and performance, supporting broader applications in Local Government operations.

The key benefits of using LGmap include significantly increased time efficiency in meeting regulatory requirements through:
  • the ability to quickly generate desktop assessment reports for native vegetation clearing permit applications for road and other infrastructure projects
  • the ability to quickly undertake desktop assessments for any site or area of interest to inform land use planning, infrastructure and environmental planning
  • the ability to undertake desktop assessments required for licencing of 'prescribed premises', consistent with Guidance Statement: Environmental Siting
  • access to bushfire risk management assessment tools and mapping to support bushfire risk management plans
  • access to mapping tools to inform project planning, natural area mapping and management monitoring, and
  • visualisation of a wide range of regularly updated data, relevant to Local Government operations by staff across Local Government (via single subscription).

Accessing LGmap

There are two options for accessing LGmap. Use of LGmap is subject to specific conditions.

1.  LGmap DESKTOP application provides access to over 300 datasets, reporting and drawing functions. Subscriptions are required to gain access - current subscribers can download the new desktop application using the instructions below:

2.  LGmap WEB VERSION allows data viewing and reporting on selectable layers. The web version does not include any of the data creation functions (annotations) but is useful when needing to quickly check information during site visits or without the need to download the desktop application.

To access the web version of LGmap, use the http://lbp.asn.au/index_lgmap.html (subscription only) or use  http://lbp.asn.au/index_public.html

Note, this version is still undergoing the transition from the Environmental Planning Tool to the new look LGmap.

LGmap Training

Free LGmap training is delivered to subscribers, demonstrating the LGmap's capabilities to deliver specific tasks. An option of in-house training within Local Government offices can be arranged by contacting Business Development Officer (Environmental Planning Tool/LGmap), Renata Zelinova on 9213 2521 (Tuesdays to Thursdays).

Subscription

Subscription to the LGmap represents great value for money when compared to the expense of work tasks involving external spatial data searching/sourcing, data compilation, analysis and mapping. Current subscribers to the Environmental Planning Tool Service will continue receiving the benefits via access to the LGmap.

In the 2020-2021 Financial year, the Environmental Planning Tool Service will be provided under the new name, the LGmap Service. Subscription revenue assists WALGA to ensure LGmap is maintained to a high standard, with the most current and comprehensive range of data; to continue developing new functionality relevant to Local Government, and to provide ongoing quick, tailored service to our subscribers.

Not sure if you want to subscribe?

Try our smaller, public version. The public version of LGmap is available free of charge. To access the public version you’ll need to download the desktop application by following the instructions for either Windows or Mac users above and then log in as 'public user'.

*Please note that the public version is only designed for community use. This version has a limited range of datasets and reporting functionality.

Local Governments considering subscribing are welcome to attend LGmap demonstrations delivered as part of scheduled LGmap training and can request a free trial login to assess the benefits of the LGmap to their operations. The trial login will provide access to the full range of data and all reporting options.

To arrange a trial login, contact Business Development Officer (Environmental Planning Tool/LGmap), Renata Zelinova on 9213 2521 (Tuesdays to Thursdays).
