WALGA Deputy President and City of Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts has been elected to a national role with the Australian Local Government Association, representing State Local Government Associations and member Councils.

Mayor Roberts joins City of Sydney Deputy Lord Mayor Councillor Linda Scott as one of two Vice Presidents elected yesterday, with current President and City of Prospect Mayor David O’Loughlin re-elected to the role for another term.

WALGA President Cr Lynne Craigie congratulated Mayor Roberts on her election, saying Western Australian  Councils would be well represented by her in the role.

“As we move towards a national campaign in the lead up to the Federal Election, it is important that WA’s unique perspective is considered, and I’m confident Mayor Roberts will ensure this is the case,” Cr Craigie said.

“Mayor Robert’s excellent skills in communication and negotiation will come to the fore in this role and I look forward to the benefits her contribution will make to Local Governments across our country.”
