Description

The Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety – Building and Energy Division (Building and Energy) has released a Consultation Regulatory Impact Statement titled ‘Reforms to the approvals process for commercial buildings in Western Australia’ (the CRIS).

The reform proposals respond to the Building Confidence Report by Professor Peter Shergold AC and Ms Bronwyn Weir that made 24 recommendations to improve the building approval process. The CRIS contains 27 reform proposals on various aspects of the building process which Building and Energy is seeking comment on.

In order to prepare a representative submission before the public comment period closes on the Friday, 3 April, WALGA has arranged a workshop to discuss the CRIS in more detail with members.

This event will also be availiable through webinar.

For further information please email WALGA’s Policy Manager, Planning and Improvement, Vanessa Jackson or call (08) 9213 2064.
