Online Workshop on Decision Paper - Swimming Pool and Safety Barrier Control
16 Jul
16 Jul

Description

The Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety have released a draft Decision Paper - Swimming Pool and Safety Barrier Control for consultation with Local Government.

WALGA will be holding a virtual workshop in order to prepare a representative submission on the decision paper.

The Decision Paper is the final stage of an extensive review of WA’s regulatory requirements for swimming pools and their associated safety barriers, following the recommendations in the 2017 Ombudsman’s Report on ways to prevent or reduce deaths of children by drowning.

The Decision Paper sets out 16 decisions on how the Government intends to improve the regulatory requirements, taking into consideration the feedback received through an extensive consultation process.
The public consultation period on the decision paper will close on Wednesday, 16 September 2020.
Comments or queries on the paper can be directed to PoolReview@dmirs.wa.gov.au.

For further information about the workshop, please contact WALGA's Planning and Improvement Policy Manager Vanessa Jackson.
