WALGA invites you to attend our annual Aboriginal Engagement and Reconciliation Forum, this year themed ‘ Doyntj Doyntj – Come Together’.  Please join us at the Swan River Nyoongar Boodja, our meeting place for a day of learning and celebration of the positive work occurring between Local Governments and their Aboriginal communities.

Addresses will be provided by the Minister for Indigenous Australians, the Hon Ken Wyatt AM MP; the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, the Hon Stephen Dawson MLC; and the Minister for Local Government, the Hon John Carey MLA.

The forum aims to assist Local Governments to develop strong, ongoing relationships with local Aboriginal communities that recognise our shared cultural heritage, create opportunities for Aboriginal empowerment, and celebrate successes.

Danjoo Koorliny leaders Dr Richard Walley, Professor Emeritus Colleen Hayward AM, Carol Innes and Ezra Jacobs-Smith will discuss Walking Together Towards 2029 and Beyond and how we can create a better future for all.

The program features Reconciliation WA’s recently launched RAP Ready forum and showcases from Local Government on youth engagement, traineeships and employment, cultural safety, truth telling, place names and traditional landcare.

The afternoon session offers a choice of three concurrent sessions:

Stream 1 Celebrate:  Aboriginal landcare and thriving culture
Stream 2 Inspire:  Reconciliation Action Planning
Stream 3 Motivate:  Closing the GAP
