WALGA and DLGC are working in partnership to provide high level training opportunities for Country Local Government members. Using WALGA’s Diploma of Local Government (Elected Member) as its framework, a 4 day program is being delivered in regional locations across Western Australia.
The program is structured as follows:
- Day 1 - Serving on Council
- Day 2 - Meeting Procedures and Debating
- Day 3 - Land Use Planning
- Day 4 - Strategy and Risk Management
Phase 1 was completed in 2013/14 via a pilot program delivered to the Mid-West and South-West regions of WA.
Phase 2 was completed in 2014/15 and was delivered to 8 Zones with a total of 308 Elected Members attending the training opportunities offered by WALGA and DLGC.
Phase 3 is currently underway and will conclude on the Friday, 14 June.
