WALGA’s Emergency Management Essentials Program describes the outcomes required to apply emergency management concepts and principals within Australia; with the main focus on Western Australia.

Who Will Benefit

Suitable for CEOs, Elected Members, Managers and Officers who would like to enhance their role in emergency management and/or learn more about the requirements for Local Government under the Emergency Management Act 2005.

  • An overview of Local Government roles and responsibilities under the Emergency Management Act 2005.
  • Concepts, legislation, policies and procedures to assist with emergency management planning in Western Australia.
  • Australasian Inter-Service Incident Management System (AIIMS) awareness.

What is Required to Complete the Program

To gain a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment, participants must complete the Emergency Management Essentials training program. In addition, assessment tasks must be completed by the student such as written projects and knowledge questions (examples and not limited to), generally after attending training, to demonstrate they can satisfactorily meet the requirements of the unit(s) of competency related to the training completed (see Student Handbook for further information and definitions).
