Jo Burges

Jo has had an extensive career in Local Government, initially spending 11 years as an Elected Member, 4 of those in a leadership role (Deputy President [3] and President [1]).

Building on these experiences Jo has further been a Director and partner in a Leadership Development group assisting in the creation of programs to build capacity in emerging leaders; a Risk Management Consultant embedding Enterprise Risk Management with WA Local Governments, during which time she became a Certified Risk Management Technician (CRMT) and completed a Diploma of Business (Quality Auditing), through to her current role as Regional Cooperation Manager with WALGA.

In 2014 Jo completed a Graduate Certificate of Regional Education and Community Development with Monash University and recently attained Graduate status of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Relationship building and facilitation skills together with knowledge of best practice have been pivotal in addressing the cultural change and mandate required to embed processes in the organisations she has worked with.

Jo’s current role incorporates generating, facilitating and supporting regional cooperation between WA Local Governments including the evaluation and implementation of appropriate Governance and Service Delivery Models.
