Overview

Local Recovery Coordinator course assists appointed Local Recovery Coordinators under the Emergency Management Act 2005 to act effectively and appropriately to ensure a smooth recovery can occur within a community affected by an emergency.

The aim of the course is to provide participants, with the knowledge of their responsibilities to coordinate and manage recovery activities as a Local Recovery Coordinator, in accordance with the Emergency Management Act 2005.

Target Audience

CEO’s, Elected Members, Directors, Managers and any Officers who are listed as the Local Recovery Coordinator for their Local Government, under the Emergency Management Act 2005 should attend.

*It is recommended that those who attend the Local Recovery Coordinator course have previously attended the 'Manage Recovery Activities for Local Government' course provided by WALGA or have a sound background in emergency management.

Learning Outcomes

As a result of completing this program, participants should be able to:

  • prepare, maintain and test the Local Recovery Plan;
  • undertake the role of the Local Recovery Coordinator, including ensuring ongoing continuous improvement and redundancy to the position;
  • coordinate the establishment and activities of a Local Recovery Coordinating on Group (LRCG); and
  • coordinate local recovery activities following a particular event, as directed by the local government.
