Overview

Effective Community Leadership principally explores the personal attributes needed by Elected Members to perform their role in Local Government. The course introduces leadership concepts and the behaviours required of Elected Members in their role as leaders of Council and prominent leaders in the community.

Topics covered within the course include the commitments of an Elected Member, how to interact within the community, skills to think strategically, ethics, leadership styles and how to articulate vision.

Target Audience

Suitable for Elected Members who would like to increase their knowledge and understanding of their role within Local Government.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Different leadership roles
  • The importance of thinking strategically
  • How to motivate self and others
  • Communicating with the Council and Community
  • The importance of ethics in a leadership role, and
  • How to identify and deal with conflict

9:00am - 4:30pm (8:45am registration)

Fees

$515.00 (GST exempt)

Cancellations, transfers and substitutions
  • Requested must be received in writing via email, letter or fax.
  • Cancellations received within 5 working days of the start of the course will incur a 20% administration fee of the full course cost.
  • Non-attendance or cancellations recieved within 2 working days of the start of the course will incur the full course fee.
  • Participants can only transfer course dates once without incurring the full fee.
  • Substitutions can be made at any time and no fee will be incurred.
