Description

On 8 December 2017, the Hon. David Templeman, Minister for Local Government; Heritage; Culture and the Arts, released WA Public Libraries Strategy – A New Chapter for Our Public Library System. The Strategy was developed by the Public Libraries Working Group (PLWG) to ensure Western Australia’s 232 public libraries remain relevant, contemporary and engaged with communities.

The Minister is seeking input into transforming the State’s public library system to meet the diverse needs of the community. Consultation on the Strategy is now underway with Local Governments and other stakeholders including public library managers and staff, community organisations and public library users. This information will be used to finalise the Strategy that will affect every public library and local government in Western Australia.

This Public Library Strategy Consultation Forum, hosted by WALGA and State Library WA, will discuss the background paper and draft strategy with Local Government representatives and Elected Members as part of the consultation phase.

The Strategy and background paper are available on the SLWA website

Participation is also available via streamed webinar.
