Metropolitan Local Government Review

In June 2011, the Premier and Minister for Local Government announced the commencement of a metropolitan Local Government reform review.  An eminent three-member panel has been established to review the social, economic and environmental challenges facing Perth over the next 50 years and recommend appropriate governance models and resultant boundaries for the sector.

The WALGA President and Deputy President will be one of the advisory groups providing input into the Panel, which will report to the Minister in June 2012.

The Metropolitan Local Government Review Panel has a comprehensive website which includes the Issues Paper and other background material.

WALGA's Submission to the Panel

The Association has developed a comprehensive submission in response to the Metropolitan Local Government Review, which underwent a thorough consultation process. The submission was endorsed by State Council at their 30 January 2012 meeting.
