Metropolitan Local Government Review
In June 2011, the Premier and Minister for Local Government announced the commencement of a metropolitan Local Government reform review. An eminent three-member panel has been established to review the social, economic and environmental challenges facing Perth over the next 50 years and recommend appropriate governance models and resultant boundaries for the sector.
The WALGA President and Deputy President will be one of the advisory groups providing input into the Panel, which will report to the Minister in June 2012. As a part of this process, WALGA has created a President's Advisory Group Policy Forum comprising select representatives from within the sector to contribute to the process.
