However, whilst Western Australians know deep down that WA is a State like no other, the cost of living crisis, growing number of natural disasters, more extreme weather events, shifting demographic profile and desire to transition to a low carbon economy are putting pressure on families and vulnerable members of the community and ebbing away at our wellbeing.
The 2025 election presents an opportunity for the incoming Government to address the challenges facing Western Australia both now and into the future.

WALGA’s Strategic Plan for 2025-2029 sets out the vision, values and strategic focus for the organisation for the next five years.
WALGA’s Strategic Plan was developed in consultation with our Members and key stakeholders.
State Council, as the governing body of WALGA, provided final endorsement of the Strategic Plan on 6 December 2024.
The Western Australian Local Government Association (WALGA) is an independent, member-based, not-for-profit organisation representing and supporting the WA Local Government sector. Our membership includes all 139 Local Governments in the State. WALGA uses its influence, support and expertise to deliver better outcomes for WA Local Governments and their communities.

Our people are top tier, subject matter experts in the fields that matter to Local Governments: Employee Relations, Governance, Local Laws, Procurement and Tax Services advice.
Our WALGA experts provide policy input to State and Federal Government that ensures the Local Government perspective is heard.
Our expertise spans Member Services, Policy and Advocacy, all under one roof. We participate in and lead working/reference groups and committees and provide proactive solutions to Local, State and Federal Government.
